Celebrate the Seasons

I love how each season brings its own sights, sounds, and scents, offering a chance to live fully in the moment. In my home, I reflect the beauty of the season by “bringing the outside in” with floral arrangements, pillows, dishes, and décor. Here are some of my favorite ideas for adding seasonal joy to your home year-round.

Spring:

Spring is a season of reawakening, with new growth everywhere. In the vineyard, it signals “bud break,” when the first leaves emerge, eventually creating a lush green canopy that shelters the grapes through summer and fall. The vibrant greenery and warm sunshine inspire hope for what’s to come. I love bringing that same energy indoors with bursts of color—like a stunning bouquet of Peonies, a vibrant tablecloth, and bird imagery to connect the indoors with nature. Floral-scented candles, open windows, and natural light enhance the space, and I add my favorite color, pink, as accents wherever I can.

Summer:

Summer is the perfect season to enjoy the outdoors, and I love entertaining outside whenever I can. It’s the time of year when I bring outside inside, using indoor table settings, candles, and serving dishes to create a cozy, inviting atmosphere—weather permitting, of course!

Summers in Napa Valley can get quite warm, so I often serve lighter dishes, like my garden-fresh Insalata Caprese, and keep drinks cool with fresh fruit ice cubes.

One more tip: outdoor lighting sets the mood. I like to mix flameless candles at different heights, both on the table and around the space. They’re windproof, can be set on timers, and when paired with a colored glass cloche, they double as décor.

Fall:

Fall is my absolute favorite season! The warm days, crisp nights, and rich colors in the vineyard are the rewards of a successful growing season. It’s Harvest time—a season of abundance in the vineyard, my home, and my life. Here in Napa Valley, many of us are busy harvesting and crushing our grapes. It’s a time of gratitude, and we often come together as a community to celebrate this special season.

I love incorporating Fall’s natural colors, shapes, and textures into my home décor. Mercury glass is a favorite of mine, as it beautifully complements the jewel tones of the season, like pumpkins and gourds. Each year, I look forward to gathering leaves and using them in my table settings. As a gardener, I also harvest the last of my vegetables and herbs to enjoy through the winter.

Winter:

Winter is filled with holidays, and it’s the one that fully engages the senses – whether it’s the scent of fresh evergreens, the warm glow of festive lights, or the soothing sounds of holiday music. For those who enjoy entertaining, this is the time to truly shine.

Winter also brings a sense of reflection and self-care. After the Holidays, life tends to slow down, and the colder weather draws us indoors. For me, January is all about hearty soups, cozy sweaters, and a few good organizing projects. One of my favorite annual rituals is making homemade bath salts, both for myself and to share as thoughtful gifts. Sign up for my newsletter to get the recipe.
