What are some ways to be thoughtful in my business communications?
Great question! Our tone is difficult to impart in electronic communications. I like to start by thanking the sender for their email before I begin my response. I incorporate their name as well.
With text, I usually start with something like “How are you?” before I make my request or tell them something.
Tip
Short cuts are useful. A simple “HU” can turn into a “How are you?” A “TY” can turn into a “Thank You”. These couple of extra keyboard taps will change the tone of your message and make the recipient smile. You will feel good about sending it too.
